Case N° 3: Off-Highway, Liebherr Group

Challenge

To ensure its products meet high demands, Liebherr produces major subassemblies, including hydraulic systems in-house. The pistons in these systems incorporate seals, scrapers and wear rings manufactured by Trelleborg Sealing Solutions. When one of the pistons fails, as it inevitably will under the
tough conditions of a construction site, Liebherr does everything possible to get the machine working again as soon as possible and the replacements are normally on the plane the same day.

Solution

As part of a unique, 20 year long collaboration between Trelleborg and Liebherr, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions puts together customized kits containing between five and 15 components. Around 23,000 of these kits are delivered to Liebherr’s centrally-located global warehouse in Kirchdorf, Germany, every year, ready for dispatch to anywhere in the world.
